happy anniversary to me
I hadn't visited Textism in, oh, a few years or so, which seems to be about how often Dean posts now, but I stumbled upon this just now and am highly entertained: "What the Hell is the Fibonacci Series?" Nice.
Also, I am pleased to find that the Daily Oliver is still being updated, because there is nothing quite like the light in a happy weimaraner's eyes when you need a little lift.
You know, I've gotten out of the habit of reading blogs. This is most likely because I no longer update my own on a regular basis, but I also no longer have a day job (for now, knock knock knock) where I take regular intarweb surfing breaks. I've been busy with other things, although I still waste plenty of time online. The other day I looked up an old friend, someone who left town so long ago that we would have a hard time recognizing each other on the street at first, I think. We didn't really stay in touch after a few years. She has a two year old blog, and I read a huge number of posts: some trauma, some romance; some wonderful silliness, and a lot of fine writing. I suddenly thought, Damn her! Why the heck did she ever leave me and this town, anyway? We MISS her. My life might be totally different if she'd stayed! But then I calmed down, and realized that it was really nice to catch up a little. Of course, I also felt like a stalker, because I didn't say hello, but she's on tour right now, being a rock star poet, and when she gets back, I will.
Also, the other day I celebrated the 14th anniversary of my move to San Francisco.
Plus, it was Tara's birthday. Happy birthday, T!
In parting, I give you this mental picture (where was my camera?): a dusty old psychology book on sale at the UC Berkeley Library's Old Useless Book Store (or whatever it's called) called Exceptional Children, by a Frances Goodenough.
Which reminds me of a great bumper sticker, spotted recently in Berkeley by my sweet:
Parent of a Wonderful Human Being.
Take that, stuck-up honor students!
